6/21/09 - PORTO FORICOS', MR. FORICOS TWO U, A GALLANT SECOND IN SUNDAY'S 150th RUNNING OF THE $1,000,000 CLASSIC QUEEN'S PLATE

IN HIS FIRST STAKES & FIRST RACE BEYOND 1 1/16 MILES, MR. FORICOS TWO U WENT RIGHT TO THE FRONT, PROMPTING THE PACE THROUGH THE FIRST HALF MILE IN :24.05 & :48.11, THEN TOOK COMMAND FROM THERE, LEADING THROUGH SIX FURLONGS IN 1:12.83, THE MILE IN 1:37.41 & HELD ON GAMELY TO THE WIRE WHEN CAUGHT IN THE LAST STRIDE WITH A FINAL TIME FOR THE 1 1/4 MILES WAS JUST 2/5 OF A SECOND OFF THE TRACK RECORD.

Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith said he was "gallant in defeat" & "didn't see him (the winner) out there". Mark Frostad, trainer of the winner, had this to say "Mr. Foricos Two U ran a super race".

Mr. Foricos Two U, in only his 5th lifetime start, ran fractions of :24.05, :24.06, :24.82, :24.48 & :26.43 on the way to earning $176,200 to bring his earnings to $257,315. In his 3 yo debut, he was 2nd by a head going 5 fur. in :57 3/5, then won his subsequent starts prior to the Queen's Plate at 7 fur. & 1 1/16 miles.

Canada's equivalent to the G1 Kentucky Derby, the Queen's Plate is the first leg of their Triple Crown. In the 150 year history of this now $1,000,000 C race, it has been won in modern times by such greats as the legendary Northern Dancer, Dance Smartly (Canadian Triple Crown & Breeders' Cup Distaff w inner; dam of a filly Queen's Plate winner) & Awesome Again (Breeders' Cup Classic winner & leading sire).

5/28/09 - MR. FORICOS TWO U, g. 3, Porto Foricos - Song Spring, by
Dauphin Fabuleux broke his maiden and ran right back to win an allowance race at WOODBINE going 1 1/16th on the all weather track. He is owned by Frank Annecchini,and D’Alimonte Holdings Inc. and was bred by Rocco D’Alimonte (On.). Watch for this one, he has only been off the board once in three starts and has learned the way to the winner's circle.

5/2/09 - SHUT IT DOWN , g. 3, Porto Foricos - Bar U Raphael by Varick, ran second in the Queenstown S. at Woodbine. He is owned by K.K. Sangra and was bred by Mark Highes. SHUT IT DOWN ended his 2 year old campaign with a win in the Frost King S. This is his first start as a 3 year old.
