Star Guitar's son, Aceguitar, got his career off to an impressive start with a win first time out at Lone Star Park on Saturday night. Aceguitar broke fast to set all the pace while being challenged down the backstretch and throughout the turn but when they turned for home he seemed to find another gear to widen his lead with every stride in the stretch to win in a hand ride by nearly nine lengths. Aceguitar finished the five furlong event in 58.70 as the odds on favorite. Ridden by Ted Gondron for trainer Danny Pish, Aceguitar was purchased by owner, Scott Brown, at the Texas Thoroughbred Yearling Sale for $20,000 from Inside Move, Agent for breeder Clear Creek Stud, LLC.

Star Guitar's son, Philly, marked himself as one to watch in his Three-Year-Old season as he opened it with an impressive six furlong race at the Fair Grounds on Sunday. He broke on top and vied for the lead throughout, hit the rail in the stretch and still won by a comfortable three and three quarters lengths while getting the six furlongs in a shade under 1:10 flat. The Al Stall trainee now has two wins from three starts and a fourth in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, where he had a rough trip. Philly was purchased by Wells Watson at the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale from breeders Cynthia Eyre and Wendell Templet and has now earned $56,400.

Appelbaum said an attractive offering from Off the Hook is a daughter from the first crop of Louisiana-based sire Star Guitar, winner of 24 of 30 career starts and more than $1.7 million in earnings. The filly (Hip 1017) worked a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. “That filly is not just a Louisiana filly,” Appelbaum said, noting potential buyers should look at her track performance rather than pedigree. “She should be able to run anywhere successfully.”
Star Guitar - star at Keeneland 09/20/2015
With his first yearling crop, Star Guitar was represented by two in the Keeneland Sale on Saturday. First through the ring was a colt out of Desert Rose Drive, who is a half sister to Grade I winner Take Charge Lady, the dam of champion Will Take Charge and Grade I winner Take Charge Indy. The very attractive colt, sold by James Keogh for the Brittlyn Stable of Evelyn and Maurice Benoit, was purchased by Calumet Farm for $95,000. The second Star Guitar yearling selling on Saturday was a colt out of the Danehill Dancer dam, Good Mood. She is a Grade III winner who is from the female family of Grade I winner Nashoba's Key, who won 8 out of 10 starts. Erich Brehm, who is part owner of Breeders Cup Juvenile winner, Texas Red, went to $40,000 to get this son of Star Guitar.
