2-year-old filly IONA GUITAR was bred by Clear Creek Stud and offered for sale as a yearling at the Equine Sales of Louisiana. She was purchased by Brittlyn Stable, Inc. She made an exciting debut dueling for the lead early, taking over and winning by 3 1/4 lengths of trainer Albert M. Stall, Jr. She raced 4 1/2 furlongs at Lousiana Downs.
  

Less than a month ago, MY NEW GUITER kicked clear to win for the 4th time - 3 of them since this spring.  Today he notched his 5 win, his 2nd in a row, but had to share the honors as he dead-heated. Racing in allowance company at Evangeline Downs, he held onto the lead tenaciously to the wire He is a homebred for Louis W Smith and is trained by Dale White. 

MY FIRST GUITAR decided it was his time to win and he came full of run from way off the pace to graduate at Evangeline Downs. The 3-year-old gelding is a family affair, owned by Philman Ladner and trained by Herman F. Ladner, Jr. Today going a mile at Evangeline. He hit a traffic jam but cleared to go on for win number two.

The $50,000 Acadiana Stakes for 3-year-old Louisiana-bred fillies featured a field of eight going seven furlongs. The Al Stall, Jr. trainee, SEASIDE AMOUR by CUSTOM FOR CARLOS  who was the 5-2 betting favorite, prevailed after a stirring stretch drive with Yes Gorgeous to win by a neck in a final time of 1:24.41.
It is the first career stakes victory for Seaside Amour and her third win overall from five starts. The $30,000 first-place purse increases her lifetime earnings to $73,790. She was bred in Louisiana by the owner, Stewart Mather Madison, and ridden to victory by Colby Hernandez.

Third across the wire was the Brittlyn homebred BLUE SUADE GUITAR who let into stakes company after an impressive 7 length maiden win. And on the board in 4th was another homebred, this one for  Virginia Lazenby, TAP DANCE STAR who had garnered a stakes placing in the Louisiana Legends Soiree Stakes earlier this year.

 Brittlyn Stables homebred DIVINE BEAN was stakes placed at 2 in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes. Back for his 3 year old campaign, he was second in allowance company first time out and today added win #2 to his resume, racing 5 1/2 furlongs at Evangeline Downs. He was off the favorite and had to angle out wide to bid for the lead and gamely cleared the field. He is trained by Albert Stall. 

A homebred for M. Richard Colton. STAR PERFORMER raced about a mile on the turf to annex her maiden win.  The three-year-old filly stalked between horses and then was engaged and dueling until she was able to clear the field late to win by a length. She is trained by Albert Stall.

Brittlyn Stables homebred SW  MINIT TO STARDOM dominated her debut against Louisiana-breds Nov. 18 at Fair Grounds and repeated with another facile score in the state-bred Louisiana Lassie S. there Dec. 9. Heavily favored in allowance company at Churchill to remain undefeated, the 3-year-old filly raced a close-up third through a quick 21.47 quarter and then took over as she wished in the stretch and romped by 6 1/4 lengths. She cruised home in 1:09 and change to keep her record perfect.  She is trained by Albert M. Stall, Jr. KEEP AN EYE ON THIS ONE!

DOUBLE STAR managed to record his second stakes victory of the 2018 Evangeline Downs season on Saturday in the $75,000 Louisiana Legends Cheval. Double Star made an aggressive move on the far turn to overtake the pace-setters, In Charge Halo and Battle At Sea. From there, he went on to win by 8-1/4 lengths in a time of 1:39.09 for the one mile. Double Star also won the Equine Sales Derby at Evangeline Downs on May 5. He was bred in Louisiana by Thomas Edward Vinci and Bill Mayfield. Double Star is owned by Four Star Racing, trained by Robert Schultz and was ridden to victory by Jose Guerrero. The colt is by Star Guitar and out of the Stormy Atlantic mare, Bond Queen.

Four-year-old, WILD ABOUT STAR made it 2 in a row in allowance company at Evangeline Downs wearing down her foe to notch her econd 2018 victory.  She had wired the field to win a MSW at the Fair Grounds in her third start and won back immediately to make it 2 in a row. She has only been off the board once in her subsequent starts and today got the job done to win her third. The WILD ABOUT STAR is a homebred for Brittlyn Stables Inc, campaigner of her sire STAR GUITAR. The filly is trained by Albert Stall. She has earned over $100,000.

Valene Farms' Louisiana-bred Givemeaminit, third in the Pat Day Mile after finishing fourth in the Louisiana Derby G2), is also a possibility for the Preakness Stakes, though trainer Dallas Stewart said the seven-furlong Woody Stephens (G2) on the Belmont Stakes undercard in New York is more likely.

“If it's a short field we might think about it,” Stewart said. “We jogged that horse this morning, and he jogged good. He looks great coming out of the race. We'll see. The distance is something we've got to think about.”

On the Ky Derby undercard, GIVEMEAMINIT, graded stakes-placed in the G1 Hopeful at Saratoga last year at 2 and on the board in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, ran third in the  G3- Pat Day Mile S.  He got up for the show despite being checked and encountering traffic and closed well on the rail for the show.  He has earned $284,766 for owner Valene Farms and trainer Dallas Stewart. He was bred, foaled and raised by  Clear Creek Stud LLC.

On the same day at  Evangeline Downs, DOUBLE STAR came into the  Equine Sales Derby with multiple stakes placings and got his first stakes win with some ease, He stalked the pace wide until time to go and then cleared the field and won by almost 3 lengths. He is owned  Four Star Racing and trained by Robert D. Schultz.  DOUBLE START was bred  Thomas Edward Vinci & Bill Mayfield. He was consigned and sold at the Equine Sales of Louisiana as a yearling in 2016.

Racing a mile at Evangeline Downs, the  Virginia Lazenby homebred filly, TAP DANCE STAR,  annexed her second win in 4 starts. She ran just off the pace, dueled in the stretch and out finished her rival for a 1/2 length victory. She is trained by Oscar Modica.

As a three-year-old, WILD ABOUT STAR wired the field to win a MSW at the Fair Grounds in her third start and won back immediately to make it 2 in a row. DOUBLE STAR  added to his resume with a third in the Pelican S at Delta Downs. The colt is owned Four Star Racing, bred by Thomas Edward Vinci & Bill Mayfield (LA) and trained by Robert D. Schultz. DOUBLE STAR  has 2 wins, a 2nd and 3 3rds in 8 starts and has earned over $61,000.

GUITAR KING had to go inside, overcome being checked in traffic, but got the job done going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at the Fair Grounds. He is owned by Steve D. Roe and Patricia L Roe and is trained by  Patrick Mouton. The 3-year-old gelding is trained by Warran Harang.

Already on the board once. STAR GUITARIST broke her maiden at Delta Downs racing 6 1/2 furlongs in a MSW. She is a homebred for Thomas R Peters and is trained by Fletcher Player. The just turned 4-year-old  came 3 wide and took over in the stretch. On the same card, LEGENDARY LARRY graduated sprinting 5 furlongs. He came into this race with 2 third place finishes and went off the heavy favorite. The 3 year old gelding is a homebred for Love Partnership Interests LP  and is trained by Karl  Broberg .

AND THEY ARE RUNNING BACK! Newly turned 3-year-old gelding BIG GIG was 3rd first out, 2nd second out and the third time was the charm and he came from the clouds, wore down the field on got his nose on the wire to graduate at Delta Downs. Running back in an AOC at the Fair Grounds going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf, the Brittlyn homebred gelding came once again from off the pace andwon for the second time in a row. He is trained by Allen Landry

The BIG DRAMA S. at Delta Downs was well named this year as a trio of contenders drove to the wire Newly turned 3-year-old DOUBLE STAR  just missed the win by a nose, but was placed 3rd after an inquiry. Watch for this one! He is tough. DOUBLE STAR  has 2 wins, a second and a third in 6 starts, The colt is owned Four Star Racing, bred by Thomas Edward Vinci & Bill Mayfield (LA) and trained by Robert D. Schultz. 

IONA STAR cruised to victory in the LOUISIANA FUTURITY at the Fair Grounds. After a couple of mishaps, IONA STAR  graduated with a front-running score at Delta Downs on Nov. 21. Running in her first stakes race, the 2-year-old filly broke on top from her rail draw and dashed to the early lead then opened up for her second straight victory.  She is a Brittlyn Stable homebred trained by Justin Jeansonne.

On the same card 2-year-old colt GIVEMEAMINIT, graded stakes-placed in the G1 Hopeful at Saratoga and on the board in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, ran second in the Louisiana Futurity. 6 furlongs is a bit short for him, but still happy for a good effort. He has earned 188,866 for owner Valene Farms and trainer Dallas Stewart. He was bred, foaled and raised by  Clear Creek Stud LLC.

SHAMROCK STAR was in contention until deep stretch and was forced to duel wide in the Cajun Miss S at Evangeline. She checked in third, but gained her first black-type. Shamrock Star  came into the race undefeated in 2 starts.Trained by W. Bret Calhoun and owned by the Carl R. Moore Management LLC, the filly  was bred Half Moon Stables, LLC (LA). She is the second stakes horse for her sire.

SHAMROCK STAR was forced wide in her second career start - this time going 6 furlongs on the dirt at the Fair Grounds. She pulled clear to score easily by 5 1/2 lengths.Trained by W. Bret Calhoun and owned by the Carl R. Moore Management LLC, the undefeated filly  was bred Half Moon Stables, LLC (LA). WATCH FOR THIS ONE!

SHAMROCK STAR completed her preparations for this career debut with a bullet four-panel breeze in :47 1/5 (1/47) Feb. 20 and was given a 2-1 chance here. Dueling for command from the outside through a rapid :21.18 quarter-mile, she put away favored Efforting (Into Mischief) after a protracted battle into the stretch and pulled clear to score by 3 1/2 lengths at the Fair Grounds.  Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,600.O-Carl R. Three year old filly WILD ABOUT STAR wired the field to win a MSW at the Fair Grounds in her third start lifetime. Shortened to a 5 1/2 furlong sprint on the turf after a third last out at a mile on the dirt, she relished the change, went right to the lead and although challenged, rebuffed all comers. Most exciting for her breeder, she is a homebred for Brittlyn Stables Inc, campaigner of sire STAR GUITAR. WILD ABOUT STAR is trained by Albert Stall.

Three year old filly AIR GUITAR STAR, a $65,000 2 year old purchase, stalked the pace on the inside and the accelerated up the rail to grab and hold the lead. She ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt at Delta Downs.  AIR GUITAR STAR is trained by  J. R. Caldwell for owners Jason Hall, Gina  Brooks and Dark Horse Racing LLC. She was bred by Larry Romero.

Star Guitar's son, Philly, marked himself as one to watch in his Three-Year-Old season as he opened it with an impressive six furlong race at the Fair Grounds on Sunday.  He broke on top and vied for the lead throughout, hit the rail in the stretch and still won by a comfortable three and three quarters lengths while getting the six furlongs in a shade under 1:10 flat. The Al Stall trainee now has two wins from three starts and a fourth in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, where he had a rough trip. Philly was purchased by Wells Watson at the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale from breeders Cynthia Eyre and Wendell Templet and has now earned $56,400.
